The Swing is Dead, Long Live the Swing

I’ve implemented a strip of text ads. This is part of my plan to eventually switch hosts and offer more in the way of visual aids (and construct a secret sex lair fit for a James Bond villain, naturally). I’ve also activated Blogger’s Atom feed in case anyone wants to, like, get all technical and stuff.

Grego sends word that he’ll be appearing on the local ABC news affiliate tonight at 11PM. It’ll be interesting to see how the teevee people package New York’s new swinging subculture. Over the past few months the scene has inspired two NY Post articles, a NYT featurette, a soon-to-be-aired VH1 special, an HBO Real Sex segment, and now a bit of fluffing at the hands (and mouths) of local news anchors. With all this media attention it’s beginning to appear as if swinging is the new black.

Oh, waitaminute… we’ve all seen this after-school special before. If the swinging micro-trend progresses along the predictable trajectory of Friendster and hipster accessories, the scene will be declared over long before it emerges from beta-testing. White-hot trends eat their young, after all.

Swinging is dead. Chastity is the new new thing now. You heard it here first.
