Lex Konrad: e-Pimp
My email address is buried among the back pages for a reason. Straight-up spam aside, I receive loads of solicitations for link trades, site reviews, affiliate programs and so on. It’s easy to lose track of the genuine reader feedback amidst all the pimpery. I don’t know how Bacchus, et. al. handle it. I figure people who take a moment to find my email addy are at least semi-serious.
I’m less opposed to commercial solicitations now than I was back in the blogspot days but I’m nonetheless protective of my wankers. I have rules, you see. With the sole exception of the textads on the upper right (which I’m tempted to drop altogether), I won’t link any porn site or shop or service I have not personally vetted. There’s a reason I’ve been pimping Climax Corner / Videobox for so long: they gave me a free account when I signed up and I still pop over there about once a week to download a scene or two.* Most sites have fuck-all for fresh affiliate content and thus I cannot, in good conscience, recommend them.
I’m even more leery of dating sites, which is why Naked Loft Party lacks the obligatory AdultFuckFinder link. It seems most of these “adult” dating sites are crammed with bogus ads. And call me a prude, but there’s something weird about seeing shots of people’s lasciviously splayed genitals long before meeting over drinks. Goodness. There’s nothing wrong with a little mystery. Les and I have had luck with Nerve, Craigslist and, you know, actually going out and meeting real live people. Still, we’re planning to try out a few sites this summer if only to report back here with the results.
So if you want me to pimp your product, service or whatever, bear in mind that I like to try shit out first. If you run a porn site, send me a trial login; if you’ve invented the most realistic latex vagina ever, drop one in the mail; if you operate a brothel, send over your most talented whore.
And for you bloggers out there, I’m always looking for quality sites; just be aware that I’m trying to maintain a manageable list-o-links. I’m pretty happy with my current crop of internet girlfriends and brothers in arms. If it takes me a while to link you it’s because I’m trying to link people who are committed to blogging—not the flash-in-the-pan attention-whore who drops out after six months; nor the (yawn) real live sex-worker who holds five doctorates and speaks, like, eight languages, whose only raison de bloguer is to secure a book deal or similar pedestrian mainstream credentials (obviously I’m talking about no one in particular).
Having read the long-winded disclaimer above, you can go ahead and email me.
(*) – If you are a webmaster/webmistress/blogger, you can sign up for Adult Platform’s affiliate program. It’s really the only program I can wholeheartedly recommend at this point.

Couldn’t agree more. It’s so difficult finding quality erotica, and something that stimulate the brain too!Sex & Culture

AFF is the worst. Full of fakes. Craigslist has been our best bet for finding single females, but that comes with it’s own set of problems. Nerve doesn’t have many people in our area, but Lifestyle Lounge has a lot of people in our area, so we use that. What I don’t like about these sites like LL is the whole contrived social scene surrounding the “lifestyle”. Christ… do all the parties have to have some fucking theme? And the DJ’s spinning garbage from the late 90’s. I bet NYC is a little more real… or not, but Denver, while there are plenty of hotties, is kind of lame.

It’s much the same here. Most of the parties have some elaborate or simply cheesy theme. The off-premises parties are slightly more normal though.Napoleon | Jun 28, 04:15 PM | #
You mention in your entry how you wonder how Bacchus et all handle it. In my experience, the answer has been, not particularly well. Despite the fact that I have blogged since early `01 (read blogs starting in 98 or so) many of the bloggers I email are downright rude. Perhaps it’s because I started some erotica themed blogs and they don’t want competition, perhaps they get emailed by ‘tards. Thanks for being an exception to this trend and responding to my email. Thanks also for a super-sexy blog.~Napoleon

Thank you for the links. It may sound trite, but it really feels like an honour to be on your blogroll – you were one of the first blogs I ever read and were an inspiration to me in starting my own.
Very happy that you’re back in the blogging seat again – keep up the good work and wonderful words.
Best,
Girl xx

I think it’s difficult because a lot of sites just want traffic flow to generate money. For me, I’d be happy having more people spend some time on my site and give me some feedback. I get these “I like your site, link to me” emails, but I think most times it’s traffic flow they want.I think it’s a difficult blog space to be in because the majority of people are just clicking around looking for porn pics or stories.
I link to Domai and Hegre because I think they’re good, but I have yet to get a penny for it. Perhaps I should reconsider.
I’m happy to have our sites linked, I think it makes for an interesting contrast. Plus your blog inspired mine, so that’s a good connection to keep.
I’d be interested if you have any feedback. Do you think my Blogger comment form deters people from commenting, or is my content just less likely to provoke a reaction?

Napoleon – There’s more business behind blogging than most people realize. And many of the people who point the finger, disdainfully, at commercial enterprise have their own interests at heart. The message seems to be “money is evil unless I’m the one making it.” I’d frankly rather link an acknowledged pro than the “next big blogging phenom” who’s, you know, surprised by all the media attention and, like, postively shocked by the book/movie/column offers. It’s so fucking cynical. That’s why I’ve never taken on any project without being upfront about my plans for total world domination.Girl – awww shucks. You can position yourself atop my, ahem, blogroll anytime.
NC – If you want to email me sometime I have some thoughts I can share with you regarding Domai, Hegre and some of the other skinny-white-chicks sites. Your comments links are a little on the small side, so that could be a factor. And your content is of the newsy variety, so people probably just click through to whatever you’re talking about. It’s tricky—some sites are simply more discussion-oriented than others. Hell, I don’t get that many comments relative to the number of people reading the site. Girl, on the other hand, gets a buttload.

I’d be interested in linking because some of your fans already link to me. Although I’m promoting a novel, it’s not yet published, and I have no idea whether it will be. The point of the blog is to entertain, and the theme is certainly close to your heart (sex, polyamory, flirting, sex).I’m clear-eyed about the commercial intent of my site, but also quite interested in the phenomenon of an on-line community of interested readers.
