Chapter Five: Slut Club (Part One)

On my last day in Mexico I will sit on the balcony of room diez-once one last time and write down my commandments:

1. Do not talk about slut club

2. Always establish consent

3. Always use protection

4. No one owes anyone anything

5. If you’re not having fun, go do someone else

6. Dating is for civilians: make no promises, accept no conditions

7. Never fuck the same person twice

8. Never plan a shag more than half an hour in advance

9. Do not get involved in drama

10. Do not practice deception

I will wonder how many of these rules I will bring back with me to the world beyond the gates.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. It’s our fifth day at the resort and for all I know we’re leaving tomorrow (I mean it this time). The rules, such as they are, only come to me in half-remembered fragments of conversations I won’t soon forget.
